Getting Started with URSA Engage
As a first-year or second year undergraduate student, or a first-year community college transfer student, you can browse the list of faculty projects below and choose one that interests you.
Step 1: Review Faculty Mentor Summaries
Look through the project summaries.
-
Some faculty list optional meeting times — if so, plan to attend and also submit the contact form.
-
Use the filter to see which faculty are open to mentorship online or in different locations.
Step 2: Contact a Faculty Mentor
When you find a project you like, click “Contact Now” to reach out.
-
You may contact up to 3 faculty mentors at a time.
-
If you don’t hear back within 4 business days, follow up using the same form.
-
Tip: Try the TEST – Office of Undergraduate Research form if you’d like to practice first.
Step 3: Meet with Your Mentor
After you submit the form, the faculty mentor will email you to schedule a meeting and talk about the project. If you don't hear back after 8 days reach out to our office.
Step 4: Confirm Mentor Approval
Once a faculty mentor agrees to work with you, you’re ready to submit your URSA Engage application. Mentor approval is required before applying.
